Messaging Product Support

Microsoft have recently introduced a 10 year product support lifecycle. For the first 5 years after product release full support is available, followed by extended support, before finally no further updates, patches or call incidents will be provided.

The following details and confirms Microsoft Support Statements for Messaging products:

Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Support Statement

Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Extended support ended on 31st December 2005. Microsoft will now only provide Custom Support. In the Custom Support phase, there will no longer be product updates or support provided through regular channels such as pay-per-incident support or Premier Support. Microsoft will only issue security hot fixes to customers enrolled in the Custom Support program. Customers will need to pay to enrol in the Custom Support program.

This Exchange Server 5.5 support-lifecycle policy is in keeping with Microsofts Support lifecycle policy which aims to provide consistent and predictable guidelines for product support availability at the time of product release. For more information on this support policy, review the Microsoft Position.

If you are still in need of Exchange Server 5.5 assistance, Embrionic will make ever effort to help you, however we would encourage you to begin your upgrade to Exchange Server 2003. Exchange 2003 has been very positively received by our customers upgrading from Exchange Sever 5.5.

Exchange Server 2003 provides a more secure messaging platform that enables effective management of viruses and spam through Microsoft and partner solutions. It enables remote users to be more productive. And it provides a highly reliable platform for increased availability and business continuity as well as archiving and compliance.
