Embrionic AD Recovery

The Problem

Many organisations do not have the facilities or appropriate tools in place to deal with a recovery in the event of disaster due to:

  • Lack of time

  • Lack of in house skills or knowledge

  • Costs involved to develop procedures and put processes in place can be high

The desire to have cover for system failure in its many guises is often shelved and to be revisited next year. From Embrionics experience it generally never gets back off the shelf.

How long can your business operate without Active Directory functioning?

The Solution = AD Recovery by Embrionic

Embrionic's solution addresses the problem in a number of ways:

Time:
All Embrionics tools and procedures have already been developed and thoroughly tested so require little or no additional development time resulting in a rapid deployment solution.

Cost:
Producing recovery documentation and procedures is a very time consuming and expensive process that can take many months. Embrionic have developed their intellectual property over a number of years working with customers, building the knowledge and testing all the individual components. Embrionic can therefore pass this experience over, so saving customers time and money.

Lack of in house skills:
Embrionic will leave you with the processes and procedures in place, tested and understood by your own staff. As we have spent many man years performing this kind of work customers can rely on our skills to guide them through the process without costly re-training.

AD Recovery  is comprised of a server side component, a client to be run on the recovery console and documented "break glass" procedures and can be seen in the screen shots below:

Screen Shots

ADR Screen Shot - Splash Screen

The AD Recovery console runs on any Windows 2000 or above client or server and utilises Internet Explorer so requires no bespoke components.

ADR Screen Shot - Gathering Info

The Recovery Console will gather all information about your AD environment automatically and populate the tasks based on this information.

ADR Screen Shot - Authorisation Required

Before completing any steps the Administrator password will be required to ensure accidental processes are not run.

ADR Screen Shot - AD Removal

Once the information has been gathered, the next stage of the process is to remove the exisiting Active Directory.

ADR Screen Shot - Promote Servers

After Removal of Active Directory and several further steps have been run, we can promote all DC servers back to their orginal configuration as predefined in the gathering phase.

ADR Screen Shot - Monitoring Progress

Throughout the process, ADR will report back on the taks in hand and will monitor individual servers. Full logging can then be examined to discover issues.
